The only currency in Montenegro is the euro. No stores accept any other currency for payment. The most common denominations are five, ten, twenty, fifty, one hundred, two hundred, five hundred euros, and coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 euros cents, 1 and 2 euros. It is the most favorable to exchange
currency in exchange offices of the People’s Bank of Montenegro. They work through Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. You can also contact commercial banks, but compare all rates.

In the most popular tourist centers, money can be exchanged in specialized exchange machines.

Do not make use of street swappers. Such actions are punishable. You can get an administrative fine. For example, Serbia, the neighboring state, imprisons for such actions.

In Montenegro, it is problematic to use credit cards and travelers cheques. You can do it only in popular resort towns where you can pay with Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Diners Club credit cards.

In Montenegro, prices for all products vary greatly by region. The more popular the area is among tourists, the higher prices for all products are.
